Your sales staff know your shoppers better than anyone

Because they’re spending their time answering questions and watching people shop, they know the snags, hold-ups and in-store compromises. And they’re on the sharp end of your internal processes, watching how they affect your customers.

But getting to this knowledge isn’t as easy as it sounds. Sales staff often dismiss their observations as ‘the way it is’, and don’t see how valuable they are. Or they clam up when they’re talking to visitors from head office, or take the opportunity to vent their frustrations.

That’s where we come in. We’ll spend time with them in the store, letting them talk about the trends and behaviours they notice, listening and taking it in. And because we’re neutral observers, we don’t have the same organisational barriers that you’d face to do the same thing internally.

We find that sales staff interviews are most powerful when you combine them with other investigations, like shopper tracking and shopper interviews.
